Technical Visits
Technical Visit 1
VTI’s human-in-the-loop simulation facilities
During the study visit, participants will get to learn about simulator facilities at VTI and take a tour around VTI’s moving-base driving simulator with linear motion in both longitudinal and lateral directions. If the time allows, a few participants may get to experience the simulator by driving it themselves.
Technical Visit 2
Technical Visit to REVERE: Advancing Vehicle Research Through Real-World Experimentation
Join a technical visit to REVERE, a vehicle research laboratory dedicated to collaborative research with industry and academia. Participants will gain an overview of how experimental vehicles are equipped with advanced sensors, data acquisition systems, and supporting technologies to enable research in areas such as vehicle automation, active safety, perception, logistics, drones, and maritime applications. The visit will showcase how real-world data collection supports cutting-edge research, while providing insights into the laboratory’s facilities, ongoing projects, and interdisciplinary approach to solving mobility and infrastructure challenges.
Technical Visit 3
Chalmers MicroLab: Micromobility Research and Riding Simulation
During the study visit, participants will learn about MicroLab, an interdisciplinary research laboratory at Chalmers University of Technology focused on micromobility research. The visit will include a short introduction to the lab’s facilities and research, followed by a hands-on riding demonstration using the micromobility simulator. Participants will also get an overview of how rider behavior and safety are studied using simulation and motion-tracking technologies.
Duration: 60 minutes (10 min introduction, 40 min riding session, 10 min discussion of results).
